This goes under the category of, "sh*t you shouldn't have to tell people." I have no idea why but people seemed compelled to shortcut the corner of my driveway. Not usually when they pull in, but when they back out and make the turn as they leave. By the end of the winter my lawn is 3 feet smaller and there is a nice mud hole where the grass used to be. Usually takes all summer to get the lawn to reclaim the territory. I brought in a fresh load of gravel a couple months ago and purposely left it extra thick in that area essentially making a 6-8" drop-off. Didn't seem to help. It's mostly my wife's dumb b*tch soccer mommy friends who all drive vehicles twice as big as they'll ever need. What really got me was when a buddy picked me up about a month ago and as we were leaving he was getting close and I calmly asked him to try to stay on the driveway. The f**ker laughed and purposely drove into the grass. Seriously, dick?
I've asked my wife to politely remind one repeat offender but it's falling on deaf ears. So today the sign went up and I'll be laying some 16d landmines.

How about you guys? What kinds of things do you find yourselves asking people to do (or NOT do) that should seem obvious?

I would assume then you agree with my idea that people should have to 'qualify' based on skill to drive anything bigger than a compact car or mo-ped. I love women but not when they're driving. Jacks on the corner seem a little overboard anti-social. Did you consider a landscaping rock or very heavy statue instead? A classic lawn jockey gets the job done every time. Either way I think you're over-reacting on this one. I got into a weird one a few weeks back a queer touched me at the gas station, then I come back later he's getting into a woman's car and he put his hand up her shirt. So I told the police "pick him up or sweep him up. You don't want this on the front page" Stupid laws. They couldn't arrest him even though he was a sex offender b/c the woman didn't want to press charge. Haven't seen him at the gas station ever again though.

That is funny, defend your lawn. I have a uncle that has the same issue. He placed a decorative mini fence on the edge of the lawn, then placed tacks behind it. Placed a sign that said he was not responsible for tire damage.

In picture #1, in front of the garage, I'd just round the corner off. Put some stones over it. It's slightly less grass to mow.
If it's in front of the house in picture #1, then landmines it is. Anyone should be able to make that swing.

Railroad ties and rebar. Cheap, ugly, and they eat clueless quarter panels for breakfast. Keeps the gravel berm from spreading.

So here's one today: I'm already driving above the speed limit on a straight country road and a woman passes me, then pulls off at her house less than a mile later. Why even bother? It's like some women just HATE driving and get in the car just to annoy guys like me by doing everything that makes driving stupid. So then I go to my stepmom's house and her tire is flat. I gave her a spare and she says it doesn't fit. It's a 15 inch spare and the stockers are 17's. I get there and the rim is on the car. What do you mean it doesn't fit? It's on the car... 'It makes a noise as I'm driving so I don't trust it' I was speechless. Obviously it does fit if its on the car and the only reason it makes a noise is because it's slightly smaller than the other 3 tires and all the shocks are old. Durrrr. What can I do? I'm going to just get her the 17 she needs or she just isn't going to drive the car like that. Borat was totally right about one thing. The only driving women should be allowed to do is at the LPGA.

Maybe just pave that corner, most road intersections are not shap right angles like your driveway is but curves. Those mini Czech hedgehogs are neat. Other thing is to build a rasied planter island out of ties or blocks at that corner. Most planter islands are really traffic barriers.
