So i'm changing rear ends in my Malibu it had a non-metric 7.5 in it, and built up a 7.5 from a metric MC. everything is bolted up and ready to go in.......however, the retaining bolts for the drive shaft don't seem to be the same? or at least they dont feel right. so i dont want to force them.....are they different from the metric to non-metric rear end??? and if not what size are they so i can chase the treads with a tap.

Thanks,

Jay

I recently had to chase some rust out of my yoke, used penetrating fluid and cleaned everything up. Was good after that. Mine were metric on an 86 cutlass. Not sure if this helps...

Jay,
I measured a few old yoke bolts that I have. From what I can ascertain, they're 9 x 1.00 and approx. 1 7/8" long. Hope that helps you.

Im pretty sure they don't differ. I know mine where hard to thread in but a little BP and some assertive force and boom all good. Use some muscle lol

I though that may be the case so i brought them over to the old rear end and they thread in to the yoke all the way by hand. Plus did not want to force them since they're fine thread
