I'm looking to buy a used GM shop manual. It covers 86 Caprice, El Camino and Monte Carlo. Will this give me enough info to do almost all servicing? Seller is asking $60 ---approx $44 US.

Do you think I could also get that info for free online - wife is b**ching about spending more of her $ on my toy.

Shop ebay or CL for a used one...I've never paid over $20 for one

Money well spent, IMO

Pretty sure they're available on CD as well, if you just want to print the pages needed for a particular repair without dragging the whole book out.

I'd be doing a bit more shopping. If you're willing to be patient and look around a bit more, you should be able to find a manual for less than that. For me, nothing beats having an actual paper manual.

You're right.
In the meantime I have found a PDF version that I can reference.
