I am about to swap my TH400 for a GN 2004r transmission and I need to know if my Pontiac flexplate will bolt up to the GN lockup converter. I looked up the flexplates and the Pontiac has 166 teeth and the Buick GN has 160 teeth. :?:
Thanks for the quick reply Khan0165, yes i think so too as Pontiac also made a 231 V6 and I've seen a lot of that swap in the forums but nobody ever mentioned having a problem with the GN converter fitting on a Pontiac flexplate. After all Buick is a close cousin of Pontiac if you ask me plus the converter is the same size at 12". I guess I will just have to try to see if it will bolt up! Thanks again.khan0165 said:from my knowledge, GM made universal provisions for multiple types of transmission/torque converter combos to attach to the flexplates.
I see no reason why your new converter should not bolt up to the pontiac plate. However, I think you do need to see which start works with which plate, as per 160 teeth or 166 teeth.
