The Monte I picked up console is cracked.

I have glued them in the past but I can't remember what glue I used.

I think it was Crazy Glue ?!?!?!!?

I just tried JB Weld Plastic and that was a HUGE fail.

What have you used to repair a console?

Thanks

We used this for years at the dealership, Works great on plastic, You can get it at paint and body supplies

and several places on line.

I have used a glue called Welder that worked well repairing my future Regal console, it also glued well to the thin aluminum I used to reinforce the console hidden on the inside.

Thankfully this thread is not what I thought it was about....................
carry on, nothing to see here !

What is the console plastic? Have a look at the underside, I would bet dollars to donuts it’s ABS.
If it is, why not solvent weld it? Pick up a small bottle of Methylene Chloride at a plastics supplier, and use that. I’ve repaired several ABS items for my cars with it, from grilles to interior pieces. It goes on like crazy glue, but takes roughly 5-10 minutes or so to fully cure. Once it’s set up, it’s as strong as the original plastic around it.

Check out this “how to” I wrote that got made into a stickie:

Yes, solvent weld is excellent. I have a friend in the signage and he uses that stuff all the time to plastic weld hang strips to the back of illuminated signs so they will fit and hang off the tabs in a sign box. Dont know why I never thought about using it on ABS ?

Thanks everyone!!
