Got a Flowmaster 40 series, maybe a resonator or glasspack?

I bought an old school Flowmaster 40 that is single in/dual out 2.5" about 10 years ago. Its still brand new in the box. I love the sound of Flowmaster but now that I'm a bit older and will be using it as a daily, I'm wondering if I should put a resonator or glasspack where a catalytic convertor would normally go. We don't have issues in Oklahoma with emissions testing. Somewhere in my attic, I have an 18" long glasspack that is also new. Would using a glasspack before the Flowmaster quiet it down a bit? I hate to buy another muffler with also having to have a muffler shop build my entire exhaust system. I've been doing a little research and have seen glasspacks and resonators listed as the same thing. I would like to hear my radio and also be able to talk in my 78 Salon while cruising

I too have the single split double flowmaster on my cutlass w 307 and after installing it the conversation was over with. Also got q-corners and 6x9 + a better radio after that. I think switching to a different dual set-up wont quiet things down much though. Hardly worth a few decibels $500 later. The only true way to calm things down is go back to the single exhaust. It's not what anyone wants to hear but how many dB is it really going to go down from the flowmaster to glass packs. I had both and the glasspacks are barely quieter. They didn't 'drone' on the highway as much however.

Hafrod, I've never heard a glasspack yet that I've liked the sound of.
I suppose yes, when used in conjunction with the Flowmaster, it may quiet things down a bit. But seeing as you're only running the single muffler (and in the stock location) along with full tailpipes, I really don't think you're going to get too much sound in the cabin of the car. Seeing as you're trying to get the car done fairly quickly, I would try just running the muffler by itself and see how you like it. If it's a bit too much for you, you can always go back and cut a resonator or the glasspack in later. The ends of the glasspack should already be flared for a slip fit, so it would just be a matter of two cuts and two clamps. It'd be much easier to add it in after the fact than installing it now and then finding out you don't like the sound and have to mess with putting something different in its place.
Just my two cents worth.
