Parts I have picked out for my 78 camino's 305 are: Comps 268h k kit, comp magnum rocker/pushrod kit, edelbrock performer rpm intake, and jegs headers. Parts I already have are 96 305 vortec heads and an hei distributor. Still looking for a good used edelbrock 600. Question I have is, will I need any special gaskets that dont come in a standard 78 305 gasket rebuild set? If so, what?

You will need vortec intake gaskets at least. Also measure your deck clearance to know what thickness headgasket to use. Many people use way too thick headgaskets which causes more spark knocking and reduced efficiency.

Just as a side note I have an eb600 brand new used for maybe 300 miles by needed a 750. The down side is I had to pirate the choke so it's choke port is plugged off. Also I'd spend the extra 8 bucks on the comp cams break in additive.

Can you give me a general idea of the size headgasket I'll need, its a daily driver so pulling the head before Im ready to install parts/gaskets isnt an option. Jshock, what do you mean pirated the choke?

The 750 I bought used and it didn't have a choke at all. I took the electric choke and linkage from the 600 and put it on the 750. So the 600 is chokeless and the port is plugged with the supplied dowel from a rebuild kit I used on the 750. I know the part # for the choke and I can get a price for yo if you'd like

Most factory 305s used .015 steel shim headgaskets. So I order vortec 305 headgaskets that are .015 thick whem compressed. Thin head gaskets cost more than the thick ones, but your engine will run better with thin head gaskets. Alot of aftermarket head gaskets are way too thick.

Just noticed there was a double to this thread. I posted in the other one.

Fel-pro #1094 are the .015" head gaskets you'll probably want. Help bump the compression a bit too.
