Christmas was quite good this year,at least for me.I got a deal of a lifetime from a good friend of mine,a 1973 olds 350 engine, making 400 est. horsepower/500 est. torque,12:0.1 compression ratio and runs on a mix of 93 octane and Jet fuel. This engines complete with the exception of a couple things, most parts i already have like pulleys, accessories and such.I also got a holley 750 double pumper carburetor and a FREE turbo 350 transmission with a manual valve body.I got everything for $1000!The engine, carb and transmission were all in a 1986 olds cutlass supreme brougham drag car, with 3.55 gears, posi and a fully gutted interior and ran the best et's of 12.50s,he said it could've whent 11.50s,but would require a roll cage.I cannot wipe the smile off my face,i already have the 307 and 2004r ripped out of the cutlass for the swap and hopefully by april,my cutlass will be tearing up the roads with the new engine!

Jet fuel...you must mean 110 low lowlead airplane fuel, jet fuel will work for diesels (JP-8), i only know that because im a aircraft mechanic. but thats a nice looking engine nevertheless, the carb looks like a square bore, i would get a manifold to match. but i like it hope its bite is worse than its bark

Wicked-A**. - Ha.

Good score! Looks like she's primed and ready to kick *ss.

I was thinking the same thing, hopefully he wasn't mixing jet A into his fuel tank, that would suck for those pistons. I get free Avgas all the time, probably about 10 gall more or less each week. Usually I make sure to be the one draining fuel for the tank inspections, and it's illegal for us to pour unfiltered fuel back into the airplane so..... guess I gotta get rid of it somehow.

no by airplane fuel,i mean 110 octane, also i dynoed this engine, seems to be making 402 horsepower/499 foot pounds torque. It also has a 11:77.1 compression,i'm very excited to put this in my cutlass, should be in the cutlass by the end of febuary

You got the engine running already?

Did you get that on an engine dyno already?

opps! I mean desktop dyno 😛 Out of three figures i tested on the computer, the most accurate is the 402 hp/499 torque.I have two other figures of 383/497 and 405/502.The horsepower curves are peaked at 5000 rpm for all three hp figures and the maximum torque peak is at 2500 for two figures and 2000 for the other.I figure it'll have a nice 325 horsepower at the rear wheels and should be able to run very late 12's at the quarter.getting the most accurate numbers of 402/499,i used the following on desktop dyno, bore x stroke of 4.087 x 3.385,intake and exhaust valves of 1.995/1.624,cfm rating of carburetor at 750 cfm,244/244 cam, advanced timing of 4 degrees with wedge pocket porting heads with stock valves and got 402 hp @ 5000 rpm/499 torque @ 2500 rpm.I think this makes an excellent powerband and there's really no reason to go over 5500 rpm, which less worries me of over revving the engine and possibly spinning a bearing.
