no reason to retype. copy and paste is your friend.
Started last night to see if I could stuff Bogart RTz under the Cutlass.
Here is the best shot I can get of the front skinnies , lugs are on order.
Now to try and get these under the car. The rims are 15x10 the tires are 30x9 but measure 9.5 at the tread. They are also much squarer mounted on these compared to the 15x8 Welds. Should allow me to use all the thread.
First issue is the shock mount that someone had fabbed on the rear. It will not clear the rim and the shock body hits the mount. Also it puts the shock at a severe angle, needed to be removed with the rubber mallet due to binding. The bushing were just as twisted up up top.The front to back was also on a sharp angle, not good.Last but not least the shock was 3/4 of the way extended.
I cut off the old mount, put the mounts on the shock and swung it to the position it wanted to be in with no bind. Also rotated the shock 90 degrees.
Yes, that is a old lug nut used as a mount and yes, all the chrome was stripped off for proper welding. 8)
The red line is how the old shock mount was. The shock is now much closer to straight up on both planes .
While is was in there. Mounted up the HRparts&stuff bar. No real issue with the bar, I just had to move the mounts abit. I had drilled holes for "my" old bar that would not allow this to be bolted to the same spot. I also upgraded the hardware.I am so type "A"
The combo of stock width 12 bolt, aluminum drums and 6.5 BS seems to work, tight but works.
May add a 1/4 spacer to keep the tire off the rail on compression.
Here is the view I hope to show at the track. dancin_banana.gif
