Upper nor'side, Brighton Heights, woulda been Oliver, but its all Perry anymore. Yinz won't catch me hanging rahnd Manchester in-less I got stillers tickets 'er I'm goin' dahn'a Modern Builders dahn by da Pen 'er sumthin.

Still ain't Northview Hights, back in the day I would walk past there to a ex-girlfriends. Now my permit, extra mag, & a witness is what I take when ever visiting Nor'side now. Have you ever seen an old '50 Chevy tow truck running around?

C, U jst nver no wen spellng iz Importent. (My spell check is going crazy from that sentence). lol

As amusing as this all is, it feels as if my brain is in "anaphylactic shock" trying to interpret this northern slang. I always thought that everyone up there spoke proper English and exercised meticulous care with grammar and punctuation. I'll stick to just visiting Detroit.

I agree. I actually started to feel sick inside. Did you know the pigeons fly upside down over Pittsbrgh?

Pittsburgh has its own version of English that is almost its own language. Try being a 5 year old starting school in Ft. Benning and having to "relearn" English because of the Pittsburghese. Then move back up at 7 & getting to "relearn" it again.

Ft. Benning's in my backyard and where I had the pleasure of attending basic training. I can't fathom the learning curve from here to there.

I returned there in '94 for basic & had the joy of drills & instructors who knew my dad train me. I do miss the Columbus area at time but it is different that what it was like in the late '70's/early'80's.
