So my last post was on here was 6 years ago, but I'm wandering back here now.

So I recently acquired a 1998 Camaro with a T5 manual trans and a 3800 v6. I'm planning on swapping the entire drivetrain from the Camaro (engine/transmission/electronics) into the Grand Prix. I can deal with the wiring and the plumbing and what not. I'm wondering how everything fits though. The car currently has a 1991 3800 matched to a 700r4 and from what I have heard I may not have to modify my mounts really at all. Any ideas?

In order to make this 5 speed swap work, will I need any g-body specific parts? Or can I just pull everything from the camaro and put it into the Grand Prix? ie. clutch master cylinder, clutch and brake pedals

Will this require modification to the driveshaft even though it is already set for the 700r4?

I'd be very interested to see how your swap works out. Perhaps you could start a build thread. As for the manual trans swap parts, I'm not sure, but I think you could use the F body parts in the Grand Prix. I know that there have been plenty of manual trans swaps in A/G body cars using the F body hydraulic clutch system. You might want to check a couple of the other G body sites (MonteCarloSS.com, MalibuRacing.com), to see if there's more info there. There are a couple of places that sell reproduction mechanical clutch linkage parts for these cars, but probably the F body stuff will be more compatible with your swap. Please keep us updated.

I tried the F body pedals and housing and found the forums that say you can use that set up to be BS. The pedals sit way too high and too close to the driver. I ended up using the G body housing and the G body brake pedal which I cut the pedal foot pad to the size used for a 3 pedal set up. I used the F body clutch pedal that I cut and lengthened .75" and pitched the pedal so it would sit a little closer to the driver. I also changed the pin location to match the rod on the master

Alright, good to know now that the pedals won't just bolt in. I'll be sure to get some scrap metal to lengthen them or something. I don't wanna shell out the $200 to get the g-body pedal assembly.

I've been doing a bit more research and it looks like I'll need to modify the transmission crossmember to accommodate the T5. I'll also have to modify the drive shaft too.
It sounds like the hardest part of this swap will be getting the manual transmission/pedals/clutch into it.

It'll be about 2 months before I can actually make any progress on this though. I'm trying to get as much info as I can now though so I don't run into any big roadblocks when the time comes. I'll be sure to start a build thread though. I'm sure this'll be one of those projects that never seems to end.

it took me a whole day to get the pedals so I comfortable with them. Each time you put them in for a test fit you need to re install the brake booster and the steering column, You can use the bolt for the F body pedals in the G body bracket. For the F body clutch I moved the pin back 1.25" and added .75" to the length of the arm. The only thing I can't give you a measurement on is the angle I pitched the pedal so it is a little further from the firewall so I can slip my foot behind it when cruising on the highway.

For the transmission cross member you need to extend the tongue and on the cross member itself you need to modify it where the tongue meets the cross member on the top front leading edge. I put a slice in mine and pounded down the top so the rear housing on the transmission where the torque bar was bolted to the transmission will not be sitting on the cross member. It might sound confusing but when you have the transmission installed it'll make sense to you.
