The Icon has a few more teeth for a tighter angle, but in every other way the Pittsburgh Professional is a way better value. For those of us just wanting to tighten a bolt (not make love to it) and then throw the wrench toward the toolbox, they are solid and a bargain compared to Strap-On. I wouldn't be shocked to find that they are made at the same location.
I do have a few Icon and a lot of PittPro, and old craftsman, and every brand that Advance Auto ever carried, and Snap-On that was bought for me, and Mac that was given to me. The best comparison I can make with PittPro is the Blackhawk stuff from about 15-20 years ago. Grade A in my opinion.
In the end most of the durability for me comes from the quality of the steel used to make it. Most older stuff was better because, just like the cars, the components were made of a better grade steel overall. Or should I say less recycled cheap chinesium metal.
You'd think a trade rag would send out random of-the-shelf tools to have that analyzed and give a real world result article on the findings, but, nope, never happens.
