I should be picking up an 87 El Camino in a few days, I don't know much about El Caminos specifically the sub model what not. Anyway it's got this hard one piece clam shell style tonneau cover on it that for my purposes I plan on removing. Anyone know what, if anything it's worth? Would any of you be interested in it perhaps? It's not my style and I want the bed room to load stuff in.

Another thing, how do I know if this car is an SS? It has what appears to be an identical dash, instruments, bucket seats, and console shifter from a Monte SS. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the car regardless but I assume if it is an authentic SS that adds a certain appeal to the car for certain people should I ever want to resell it.

I would be interested in it depending where your located.
I'd pretty much give it away... Assuming it's not some super rare part that's worth a small fortune I've never heard of.

However I'm in Philadelphia PA probably too far since you're in Oklahoma City. That's like a 1,000 mile drive. There's someone in OKC selling a bunch of rare Suzuki vintage dirtbike parts I want. Maybe we could make a deal and meet halfway if you could transport the stuff.

There's web sites that decode the VIN number that will tell you whether it's an SS or not.

That looks like the same Gaylord brand that was on mine. Sold it for $200.00

That is for the Monte Carlo SS, 8th position in the VIN would be a 7 on a 83 Monte Carlo SS or the letter G for the 84-88 Monte Carlo SS.
As far as the El Camino find your SPID label, Should be located inside the glove box on the dash. (Not the console)
Look for a Z15 in the listing. That is the code for the SS package. If the Z15 is there you have a SS, if not you have a well optioned El Camino!
Below is from my non Choo Choo SS El Camino.
