Hey how's it going? I have a DD 305 non SS block with a 1407 edlebrock, zz4 heads and intake, long tubes into an x pipe. It also has a comp XE 262 cam. How the setup came to be, was, I killed the original block, found a stock replacement out of an 84 monte and had some zz4 heads lying around. So I said why not, lets try them. I noticed power kicks in around 2800 till 4800ish, gas mileage is terrible but at least on the highway it moves🙂. Plans are to upgrade to a decent 350 block. For now Ill enjoy driving my bucket on the streets and turn heads, people saying "How is that still on the road?", lol. Thanks for your time.
Have you tried this combo and what were your results?

For a 350 all the parts would obviously work much better but for a 305 with it's tiny bore of 3.736 you have too much of everything and definitely way too much fuel coming in and I am not surprised that you get terrible gas mileage.
305's do respond well to more conservative upgrades.
