I know all that stuff is right! Remember, the engine did run just fine a few weeks ago... It would idle, rev up, anything without a single problem! Anyone else with some ideas? Maybe a fuse or something? Its gotta be something that is less obvious... God is this aggravating!

Have you changed the ignition module? Those things seem to go at the weirdest times. I once had one go bad directly after doing a tune up. Carbed engines really don't take much to run and it seems like you have all those things covered. You might also want to check your compression just to make sure.

Cutlass Startup

This is what it looks like when I crank it. Ignore the back fire, that doesn't usually happen... But it just sounds like it wants to start so damn bad! Thanks...

Sounds like your timing is over advanced thats why is draggin during cranking. Have someone crank the motor while you rotate the distributor by hand. You might even be 180 out. If doesn't start then rotate the rotor 180 degrees.

HEY! I got the damn thing started, but its not time to celebrate yet... I changed the carb on it from a 650cfm Holley Double Pumper to a 600cfm Edelbrock and I notice a total difference in performance, is that because of the carb or something else? Also I set the distributor to 10 degrees advance with a timing gun and this thing backfires like no tomorrow... Its not just a pop, its like a darn gun shot, ITS LOUD! Whats that caused by?

Your Holley must of blown the power valve when it backfired.
