My sound system had developed a disturbing hum so I went to my friend's shop to pick up 3 new sets of rca cables. He had just finished making a few adjustments to a new modem his provider installed today. He never asked for a new modem and was extremely upset when the new modem would not work properly. He needed to flash a few modules today and without the internet installations stop. He spent over an hour with the tech line and when they told him his new modem was not compatible with his surveillance cameras he told them to bring back his old modem. When they said that was not possible he asked the tech guy is he could hear him smashing the new modem....this is the end result of the modifications my friend made to the modem...

sucks that the only way them bastards will replace a modem now is if you actually destroy it.

I think it looks good same thing happened here last week but my wife wouldn't let me fix the new one I had the same idea

Rogers will do that to you. And I find Bell is just as bad.

that's the problem with basically only 2 providers in this country plus those of us who have business internet we get raped with the prices we pay for internet even though we use less bandwidth than would be used in a normal household.

Same thing in my area. Being in a very rural area we have only 2 Internet providers, a phone company and a cable one. Had the cable for a few years until it was at a point that I would have no Internet for hours because the modem would not connect. Seemed to happen late afternoons every weekday when kids all getting home from school and people coming home from work.

Had enough and had to go with the other carrier which was slower speeds but more reliable. It is, but then we find out we are in a low speed area and I doubt it will ever get faster. Not enough homes to justify the upgrade. So my phone and Internet are bundled but my price is the same as someone who gets 40mgs a second and I barely get 3! But we have no other options outside of cell phone providers and that is a whole other cluster **** because again of my location and where the cell towers are.

Like the OP I wish I could take a hammer to a few of my tech boxes because of how frustrating it is to just get something to work thecway we want and not get the bs runaround many of these companies give us.

...and my favorite "you got mail" ...the good old days....lol

...I would load a page, go make a sandwich, and it would be just finishing opening...

...and I also remember web tv and a relative posting email from their tv using a wireless keyboard!...

..how far we have come tech wise....or have we??...
