That they don't list it for the Cutlass? I assume it has something to do with the mythical engine offset of the Cutlass.

I used the Pypes system, however if you attempt to do it yourself it will hang low and look like crap.

Exhaust shops are not magical. They can't do anything any other person can't do themselves at home providing you know what you're doing and have the right tools. I had my Pypes system installed by a 'performance shop'. They fvcked it up so bad ( hung way too low for one ), I had to buy new tailpipes and mufflers and redo it all myself. Should've just did it myself from the start.

I should rephrase my statement. With a hoist, torches and welding equipment it would be much easier to fit the system properly. My experience with the Pypes system is that it is not truly "bolt on".

Update..
Just ordered the pypes kit....SGG10S from summit. I will post up picks and details about the install when its finished...maybe a video too....Thanks for the input fellas...

Not too many people have a lift, cutoff saw, torches, a welder and exhaust tubing benders at home. While "bolt on" kits may have come a long way in the last few years, any normal joe with a cool little cruiser would be waay better off having a reputable muffler shop install the exhaust system for them. And before you start throwing stones at me, I used to do custom exhaust work for a living so I know all too well what it takes to do nice work. It sounds to me like the shop you took your car to had no business doing exhaust work in the first place.

Totally agree Chris. Save the money, find a reputable shop and get it done right the first time. I have seen the Pypes kit on a friends car, it looked and sounded great (he ran the Pypes mufflers as well) but it didn't bolt right up; he had to monkey with it a bit to fit just right. That has been my experience with "bolt on" exhaust systems both vehicles that I own. Just one mans opinion. Bill, good luck with the kit. Maybe you post in a few weeks that the bolted right up, no problems!

Update...Chris is correct..it has to be done at a shop to fit and look correct. The pypes system sounds great, looks great, and will probably last forever....but....it needed some modifications to fit the headers..and the tail pipe on one side had the hanger installed incorrectly. Still, with all that, it beats dealing with the shops I have around here. Unfortunately, most of them have no interest in dealing with custom work or fabrication. I had to take the car to another town to have the connectors made and fitted. I will make a good video once the car comes back from the shop. Gotta get the trans rebuilt...

Yes I know I'm very late with a retort here but...

My point wasn't that you shouldn't take it to an exhaust shop to have done. It was the fact that IF you have the proper skills/tools/ and whatnot at home you can do everything an exhaust shop can do. Nothing more. Sometimes it is just easier to pay to have that kind of work done, but because you made an absolute statement ( 'if you do it yourself it will hang too low and look like crap' ) I just pointed out that wasn't really true. A statement like 'you would probably be better off taking it to quality exhaust shop because it can be difficult to do on your own and get it to hang properly', would've been accurate. And yes, obviously the shop I took my car too sucked pretty hard ( even though it's considered to be a high end performance place ). They did what is typical of places nowadays; take your money and give you $hit service in return....

Bill, glad to see your exhaust is coming along.

That sucks that your local shops dont like custom work. I assumed that when I made my earlier response. In my experience I am spoiled in that 5 minutes from my house is a shop that loves custom work. Matter of fact, my car is there right now getting a complete header back system installed (cant wait to hear it, picking it up in the morning). But I have known this guy for years, he has worked on multiple vehicles of mine and my friends and does a great job for a great price. Now, if you don't have that situation in your area, then yeah, maybe the Pypes kit is the best route.

Hope all is well with the car and its coming along as you expect.
