Headers for 84 El Camino

I am running a stock starter, which is a pain to put on.
I had to put the header in place but no bolts, then install starter, then bolt up the header.

Thats funny. I am using hedman headers with a mini-starter on my Olds 350, and it doesnt fit at all. Are you using the cheap style headers?

im using standard hedman headers.
What where yours listed to fit?
Mine, if you buy them from jegs are marked for a g-body, but if you go to hedman they say for vista cruiser of same years.

Some of thos mini starters hang away from the motor, because of the offset for the gear reduction setup, where the stock starters are not offset.

Mine were listed for a g body. I am not using a gear reduction starter, and it is clockable also so I dont see why it is such a problem.

how bad does it hit?
Post a pic of the problem in ur profile (if you can)

It was hitting pretty bad. A hammer wasnt doing the job, so I just cut out the area that was hitting and welded in some new pieces of metal to work around the starter. It is not pretty, but it will hold up until I get the engine running and the car ready to drive. I will get new higher quality headers and try them out with a different starter and see if that helps, but if they dont fit I am returning them.
