I need to buy some header gaskets, but not sure what to get. I seen that they have copper and aluminum gaskets, and I never tried them before. I also want to get some bolts that are not going to come loose and create a leak. What do you guys recommend?

if you dont wana go too fancy, mr. gasket gaskets are pretty cheap and they are better than other brands like fel-pro. for the bolts, personally i like plain jane bolts, none of that locking crap. some regular mr gasket bolts are good enough if you tighten them down every so often.

The black MR.Gasket ones have never done me wrong. I think they are called "Perma-Torque", but am not 100% sure. I also have small lock washers under the header bolts and they never come loose, even after 40k miles. Depending on the headers used, they may or may not fit.

The issue is how the primary tubes for the front cylinders are bent near the flange. If you can barely get the bolt in there now, you won't be able to put the washer under it.

My AMC 360 has that issue, which is why I know about it. The Edelbrock headers in my Cutlass don't though, and they even came with the washers. However, they are a pretty small tube diameter which could explain the ease of fit.

i am running the flowtech reusable aluminum gasket with mr gasket allen/hex head bolts. i would strongly recommend the flowtech gaskets. i was always having leaks with my old copper style until i switched to these. i don't know if anyone still carries 'em tho...
