The last time i did my headliner i used 3M heavy duty glue and my headliner was falling in 2 weeks, has anyone used a different type of glue that worked great?

There's a couple different 3m versions, I have had great luck with 3m's Super 77 trim adhesive.
x2 on making sure your prep work is done properly.

I did my wife's car 3 years ago, With 3M general trim adhesive, You have to remove all the old foam backing from the old headliner. I used a wire brush then sanded lightly. Apply the glue to the backer and the new liner,Then let it dry until its not wet to the touch . then smooth out your cloth on to the backer board. I have done 4 or 5 now and not one has failed yet, Prep is the key. ( i took the headliner out and turned it upside down on a work table.)

Go to a fabric store and try to get some high-temp keystone adhesive. They sell it in a spray can as well as in a container (sprayed through a gun). It's much stronger than the 3M stuff.

I used 3M spray adhesive on the fabric side and regular old contact cement on the board side. Twelve years and still not sagging.
