Hey all, I plan on reupholstering my headliner next week and was wondering if i should look for a new one before anything as you can see below that it is cracked on both sides. should i try to glue this back together somehow or spend a few bucks for one at a junk yard in good shape?

ducttape or fiberglass. Let whatever you use set up good.

I cleaned all that foam mess from my old one, taped the cracks, then took a thin fabric like canvas material and glued it (spray adhesive) to the entire backside. Might have been over-kill, but it stiffend up the headliner board and kept it from cracking and breaking apart when I re-installed it.

Remove all of the old foam from the board and then fiberglass it. It'll be much stronger.

I wouldn't even consider duct tape other than to hold the piece place before fiberglassing.

I would just go to the junkyard and find another in better shape. That way you can have that one reupholstered while u take the old one out.

x2...That's what I used on my headliner. It was cracked in the same place, along with were the coat hook goes. The fiberglass is super strong.

Guess fiberglass it is. Now i have a reason to learn to fiberglass. been reading up on how to do it for so long and have always wanted to buy the materials but never have. hopefully i can get it done this weekend, replacing the head gaskets on my gf's grand am has me tied up atm.

I used duct tape to re make that whole corner. With about 10 layers it worked great. I took a stapler and went around the edge and it hasn't started saging yet 2 years later.
