Old, torn headliner, powdery foam raining down on my head, touch the cloth and it rips. Can't stand it, gotta do something.
But my headlinerboard was too brittle to try to repair it, so I bought this bow-style universal kit and installed it over top of the old one. What do you think?

I think it looks pretty good from here. What kind of fabric are you using?
I know how brittle the headliner boards can become. Sometimes you can actually repair them, or coat them with fiberglass resin and matting or cloth.
I do like the bowed look, though.

It's just foam-backed cloth headliner material, color is called sand beige. I used some extra cloth to fix up the sun visors, but they aren't installed yet.

I wanted to take the board down and try to repair it, but it was so brittle I was afraid it might break when taking it down, or when I tried to glue the new material on.

Okay. Yeah, taking the headliner down could be catastrophic. It would more than likely rain down on you. It looks good man. I like it. Were you able to add the fabric without removing the perimeter trim moldings? Or did you just tuck it under the moldings?

Thanks!!

It just tucked up under the moldings. The kit came with a 'headlining tool' - actually just a piece of bent metal - but it did the job. Pretty easy really, once the bows were up.
