What the hell could have happened. I just performed a full tuneup myself including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, carb tune, and oil change. It seems to idle fine. Just a heavy misfire between 2000-3000 rpm that causes the tach to jump.

Check your plug gap. I've had some part throttle miss issues before when I got into a hurry and didn't gap the plugs first. All the gaps were small between .015-.020. Opened them up to .045 and the missing stopped.
