hello all I am looking for a part number for a gm Hei tach wire. I am also looking for how to hook up that tach wire to a factory tach Pontiac

Does it have to be the exact OEM item? I say that because all it really is, is a female spade connector with a locking pin. In fact, an HEI "pink" 12 volt wire connector will work too. Then you run it to the tach by hooking it up to the big dash/gauges connector harness. IIRC there may be a white wire already there. If so look around and you will find it maybe taped up and stashed out of the way. If not, just run your tach wire up to the cavity. If the cavity is vacant, you will need to scavenge a pin from somewhere else. Luckily, Pontiac wired the dash up for gauges and non-gauges- the wiring is the same. I think G-body_vet found that the wire was there all along.

I found it. I had a conversation with G-body_vet about this a long time ago. He posted a thread- https://gbodyforum.com/threads/grand-prix-tach-swap-how-to.26575/ What he found was that downstream from the harness there is a connector that the HEI wire plugs into. Gotta luv Pontiac! They think of everything and make it easy to backfit stuff.
That same wiring diagram helped me out enormously when I installed my Pontiac dash, plus Oldtinsmith (Doug) was kind enough to send me a few Pontiac wiring diagrams.

Thank G-body_vet. I was cutting the wire and soldering a lead to it. He actually found where it went and the connector at the end. I remember him posting that but it took me some searching to find it. Time flies!
Kind tough to see in this pic....but this is the tach filter harness...along with the white wire...not sure if you can see the connections well enoughtor not...
