When I built my '83 Olds quite a few years ago I had a very easy time. Parts were everywhere and it was fun. I dropped a SBC in with a Th350 w/manual valve body and a 12 bolt out of a '72 Chevelle wagon. It was a very fun car. Then I went through the big D and it just kind of sat there...never did really finish it. I raced it a couple times, but nothing serious.

Years and years later

Now I'm trying to do it right but it isn't an Olds anymore. The body has been stripped off and I'm going to build a nice little KB-2 pickup. I'm halfway close to having the cab mounted.

Here's the truck I'm using for the body. It's a runner, daily driver and the body is in great shape

Here's the frame getting ready to finish so the cab will be able to be mounted

Now don't be hatin' on me because I desecrated a G-body. I still love them and the Lil Lady wants another one real bad so I may be having to find her something after the project is done.

I should be able to answer questions and help out when I can. I just have a few questions of my own with small thing's I've never had to worry about. Some may seem wierd to you guys vut this is a wierd build.

Well you put the right motor in for a hot rod  . It was a GM corporate as soon as you did the motor swap. That is a good idea to get modern suspension under something older.

this sounds like an awesome project! be sure to post some more pictures as you build on! can't wait to see some more progress

Welcome!

Somebody just bought the remnants of my '79 Malibu I parted out to put the front frame stub under a '52 International pick up.
Can't argue with the smooth riding coil spring front end with power steering and power disc brakes...
Sure is a nice upgrade over a manual drum, leaf sprung straight axle.
