Great forum/site, I have a 1979 elCamino from ebay (1200) with centerline billet wheels and bfg's ebay (350) just got a ss steering wheel (40) and dash (86) witch Im looking for advice installing. My most recent ebay score is an 88 suburban 454/thm400 complete driving car (695)
My plan is a 79 elcamino SS 454 1970 tribute. That is 1970 badging, stripes, wheels etc. also looking for input on that idea. I posted the prices I paid not to brag, But to illustrate how much fun Im having on a budget.
I look forward to sucking you guys brains for tech help and ideas.
I will have lots of suburban/chevy truck parts cheap or free.(3/4 ton 2wd)
Also a 305 thm200 that you can hear and drive until snow when I will start the swap. Greg

Looks like you have big plans for the El Camino. Remember to post some pic's as you begin the process. You will not have any trouble finding help and ideas from this site. Welcome aboard!!!

sounds like a neat project on your hands welcome!

That would be a cool car to make a 79 SS 454 ElCamino. The first thing I would look for if I were you would be a 12 bolt rearend if you want to keep it all Chevy or a Ford 9" if it doesn't matter. The stock rear won't last to long if you get on that bigblock to hard.
