Hello everyone, I have been checking this site out for a while now, and finally decided it was time to join. I have just bought a really nice G-Body and could use the info on restoring and upgrading. I recently purchased a 1988 Olds Cutlass, it is blue, without the vinyl top. It has the 307, 200-4R transmission, and is in perfect shape. It has 52,000 miles on it. I got it from my neighbor, he lost his license and I had been eyeing the car for months. I finally asked him if he would sell it and he said $1000 bucks and I could have it. Luckily I have been working 7days a week, 12 hours a day now for a couple months, so I went directly to the bank and shelled out the cash. I thought it was a damn good deal for such a nice car.
I plan on upgrading to an olds or chevy 350, I have a '72 455 block and heads, but I want the car to be more than just a, "Rocket" I want to be able to drive it without feeding that big block.
If anyone is interested I'll post pics of the build, and if anyone knows where I could find an Oldsmobile 330 crank, please let me know.
Thanks, and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Bonegrater,

Sounds like a good deal on the 88 Cutty! IMO, drive the Cutty as is for the time being while you make a plan of action as far as the engine is concerned.

Welcome to the site!

Doug

Thanks, I plan on driving it to work every now and then, and on weekends. I am going to try to keep the mileage low on it. As well as keep the original 307 and refresh it just to have the numbers matching engine. I plan on going with a 330 crank, and 5A heads. A .440/.440 cam, and 3.42 gears. But in the mean time, I have a low miles 350 out of my '76 Delta 88 that I am building to run between 325-350hp, that will go in first to drive around. I plan on using a 330 crank in that one as well, if I can find two of them.
