I'm pretty stoked to have found a site totally dedicated to G-Body style cars, really cool indeed. As for myself, I own an '85 Buick Regal Limited, and have had it about 9 years now. It's definitely a love/hate relationship.

When I got it back in '99 it had close to 188k on it, and everything under the hood was original, so I knew I would be in for some repairs shortly....But it has turned out to be close to a nightmare for me. In the 9 years I've owned the car, I've basically had to repair everything, and I've had to replace my transmission twice(just last month another $1400 on one), and now 2 rebuilt engines too. And that's with me always babying the car, and only accumulating around 3000 miles a year. And it still doesn't run correctly.

It seems to stutter/hesitate once it gets to about 35mph on the dash. I cannot for the life of me figure out what could be causing the problem. I've had everything replaced. Distributor, plugs/wires, vaccuum lines, cap/rotor, the works. Just had my carb rebuilt and that cost me over a grand and now it takes forever(over 5-8 minutes) to warm it up to idle if it's even remotely cold outside. And once I get it to idle down I smell a weird burning type smell...

It's as though the car is bad luck for me or something, but I choose to keep it anyways. I just love the shape/style of my Regal. Lots of people compliment me on the car, when I'm pumping gas or what have you, and that makes me feel pretty good. It's got the lowrider look to it, as I painted it black and put some 14" Supremes/Cragar wheels on it. It's by no means as nice as some of your cars on the site, but it's decent.

I'd like to get the interior done, but everytime I try and save some cash to do it, it breaks down again... But we'll see. Anyhow, didn't mean to ramble, it's good to have found this place.

i am thinking a nice v8 swap may be in the near future?? welcome! are you a fan of rockford products? i noticed your name....

Yes, welcome. What part of Cali you from?

welcome to the site, for the record the reason i got rid of my camaro was along the same lines of always having problems but i regret it to this day for getting rid of it. You should hang on to it, you will regret the day you would get rid of it

i would drive the hell out of it. if it doesnt like being pampered, you should just have some fun. maybe it would appreciate it. anyway welcome to the site, and lets see some pics.

Hey thanks for the welcome guys.

regalman- Haha yeah, I've been using Fosgate for years. Used to have one of the old school Punch 200s in the car, but now I run a T10001BD powering 4 Punch 12s in the trunk. They barely got the custom box to fit, but boy does it pound....

Lue- Thanks. Yeah I'm out here in Ontario, not too far from LA actually.

phaZe- I'll try to do that shortly..

78mali350- Yeah I know I'd definitely regret getting rid of it. My family especially is so sick of the car, my mother always barks at me to get rid of it, my girlfriend does too. It's tough because they do have a point. But I love the dang thing regardless.

ryanelco- You know I've tried..but whenever I do try and drive it with some kick it'll just sorta sputter harder when it gets past 35(no mechanic can tell me what is causing it, especially when they see that I've replaced close to everything), and then I get extremely irritated and frustrated even being in the car.

midwestls- Hey thanks, I appreciate it.

I dunno why but the car has never had any sort of power whatsoever. I know the stock v6 doesn't have much kick, but this car is ridiculous. When going uphill(even a slight hill/incline) in order to even get it up there with any quickness I basically have to almost floor it...and when I do that the check engine light comes on. And even with my foot down hard on the gas the thing barely increases speed. It's just absurd and it drives me crazy.

I've thought about swapping out to a bigger motor but then saw some of your stickies here on the site talking about having to change out the transmission, radiator/fan, coils, etc...and that would just entail even more money. And with my luck some other problem would come up to infuriate me. Is there no way to increase HP without having to change engines?

honestly it doesn't sound like it's a hp problem. don't know what it is but i don't think more power is your answer

Yeah that's the boat I've been in for years now. Even after my latest rebuilt motor was put in the engine guy handed me the keys and said, "I dunno why but the car has like no power"... Maybe it's because I've yet to find the right mechanic that can figure it all out, but then again, it's been to many mechanics over the years too. It sucks...
