hey whats up just another new guy here. a little about me i always wanted a monte and an iroc z since i was a little kid ive owned both now and sold both unfortunately. but ill talk about the monte since this is the gbody forum. my experience with montes started in 06 after i graduated high school and was working in a steel mill. there was a guy i worked with who owned an 84 monte that was in great condition for an 84 here in mn i begged him for over a year to sell me the car and the offer made it all the to 3 grand at one point he always said hes not selling it. well out of the blue he came to work bragging about this gran prix gtp he was going to buy the next morning. i said well ya dont need 2 cars he goes i told you i dont wanna sell it by that time i was used to him saying no so i shrugged it off. next morning i wake up to him calling me and he says hey zach do you really want the monte? i said hell yeah he goes well the dealership is screwing me around and say they need 400 more for my down payment to get the grand prix. i say ok what does that have to do with me? he goes bring me 400 cash right now and shes yours needless to say i made it to the dealer in probably 15 minutes flat i was in such a rush i didnt even think about the fact that i forgot to bring a 3rd driver since me and him were leaving with 3 cars i ended up leavin my iroc there for a few hours and going back but thats how i got into monte carlos. i sold it because i was in the marines and due to ship out got a dui like a retard and sold the car to pay fines and such and keep me eligible for the corps. for 2000 bucks btw heres the old monte.
now here i am a few years later out of the corps but still very into cars. well the other day i was looking for a dealer that would work with my sh*t credit did one of those online pre approved loan things for sh*t and giggles they actually approved me for an 04 tahoe z71 i wanted i went to work came home and told the gf about the truck she asked to see it i went to the dealers site and went to their chevy inventory. as i was scrolling down i saw a monte just like my old one but waayyy nicer i clicked on it and couldnt find a price on the site so i called about 10 times before i got an answer the guy said 1600 bucks i got straight out there looked it over real good. come to find out the reason it was so cheap is it developed a loud popping noise and they thought the motor was going bad i checked and found out it was missing 2 header bolts. well i told them i wont drive it the way it is. but i put 500 bucks down to hold it and ordered a brand new set of arp header bolts im just waiting for them to come in and provided the transmission checks out and everything goes smooth ill have my second monte. this thing is seriously clean and has a few nice go fast parts. intake,heads,longtube headers,cam and exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. ill have more details once i get out there to install the bolts and take my test drive but for now ill sh*t the hell up and post a pic....
