So quick question, i just picked up my 78 Malibu wagon, and noticed after driving it, that it looks like there is air in the fuel filter, i see a few air bubbles in the clear filter. Any ideas why or what could be the problem? Bad gas cap maybe? I dont think the fuel is boiling but hard to tell, does not feel hot at all. The car runs great! I drove it 160 miles today to get it home without any problems, oil pressure and water temp all good. Thanks for the help.

How is it running? Does it stall? What about after shutting it off once it sits do you have to let it prime up before starting up

It runs great! Doesnt stall at all. once its warmed up i just turn the key it it fires right up. When its cold you have to give it one pump and then it fires right up.

It could be a leak in the system or is you have one of this glass filters (that you should get rid of) the filler could be allowing air to enter the filter. If the air appears only when you start it up a fuel filter is going to have air in it unless you can bleed it. It starts out with air and then fills up.

I just noticed a few bubbles when the car was off after just after driving it. I didn't even think to check it when it was running. The fuel filter is the plastic clear kind. I was also thinking the filler or gas cap has a bad seal. How would you go about bleeding a fuel line?
