I put some filler on my car on Saturday (6 days ago) and I forgot to prime it afterward. I just primed it now. It has been inside my garage 95% of the time and the humidity has been about 50-65% with a couple days of rain the last week. Is the filler alright, or will I have to redo it? I'd really hate to have to redo it because I have it pretty smooth and I already had to redo it once in these areas where I applied the filler.

Joe,
I think you'll be alright. As long as it hasn't sat too long or out in the elements, you should be fine. I wouldn't let it go too long, plastic filler does absorb moisture. Definitely get some good primer on there.

Yeah I have a layer of good primer on it now. My car is never exposed to the elements and that filler has only been on there just under a week. I just like to double check with some of the bodywork experts on here. Thanks Jack.

Primer actually is not a very good protector either, unless its epoxy. Regular poly or 2K primers are actually hygroscopic as well. BUT with that being said, its much better then nothing protecting it at all!

Im sure it will be fine but if your really worried about it you can epoxy prime over it to give yourself some piece of mind.

I know primer is porous too, but like you said it's better than nothing. I have a 1k sandable primer from transtar over it right now, and it's only gonna stay like that until I get it into the bodyshop in a month or so. And the car is inside as stated before and not exposed to the elements.

Talked to a buddy who is a body man and he said as long as it isn't outside and not in a damp place it will be okay for several weeks. My garage isn't climate controlled but it hasn't been humid here all week and I certainly wouldn't say its damp. Which is good because I found another spot that I forgot to prime last weekend and I won't be able to get primer until tomorrow at least.
