I'm trying to decide on a blue to paint my car and need some input from you folks. I want to use a solid color in case I make a mistake and have to cut and buff. I'm a novice so I like to keep it simple. I've been kinda leaning toward the reflex blue but it may be a little bright, maybe not. :? The speed blue and petty blue look good too.... Suggestions please.

Here's the color chart-

I like the color that's on it right now. I tend to prefer colors that could have been stock or close to it. I'm a fan of subtle metallics on our cars too.

I like metallics too but I don't have enough experience to shoot it and have it look good. I'll be painting in my carport so I want to do the car in sections.

If your mind is made up on painting the car and you're afraid of making mistakes, go with white. Seriously. It's the most forgiving color, hides mistakes in body work well, and goes with about any color interior. That's if you're looking to save money and get the experience.

IMO, the only way to learn to spray metallic is to do it.......I have never sprayed a solid color before, only metallic, my first attepmt wasn't so great, was also my first attempt at a real paint job on a car so actually it wasn't too bad, lol. As for painting in a car port, why not just edge each individual piece, then assemble, then spray the whole car at once? I don't know if you're going BC/CC or not, but if using Acrylic Enamel, you can use clear over it if you use a hardener in the color coats, which will allow you to wet sand and buff without distoring the metallic.

I would go to a new car lot and find the car color I truly like and pull the color # from the trunk. I painted my '64 Corvair Caddy Blue.

Seriously I couldn't agree more you have 1 of the nicer factory colors if you have painted before then you should give the metallic a shot but its your car.... Anyway nice lookin car allways been partial to the malibu's 😀

I really like the blue on the car as it is......But the blue your leaning towards looks nice also....Either way looks great!!!
