I have gotten the edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb put on with the aftermarket distributor with vaccum advance canister all hooked up.. any ideas why it still wont crank???... any ideas would be much appreciated

thanks in advance[/b]

Make sure your battery isnt dead. Check all of the connections to the starter and make sure they are clean. Make sure all of the grounds are good.

everything is turning.. jus seems like the timing is off because its getting compression and spark but jus seems to be missing and everything is aligned...

I would reinstall the distributor and make sure the number one piston is at top dead center on compression stroke. Correct me if that the wrong stroke I had the same problem. It would just turn over but wouldnt crank. If you can get your hands on a timing light too cuz you will need it. Also make sure all your lines are hooked up correctly to carb.

Did you mess with the carb before you installed it? Could it be possible that the idle speed is too low?

thanks guys .. she is running again!!! but now the egr valve is in the way of my throttle assembly any ideas for this? could i do without the egr?

You should go to your favorite auto parts store and buy yourself a new EGR gasket. It will cost less than 5 bucks.

Next, go to any decent welding/machine shop and take your gasket with you. Give them the gasket and have them cut a piece of plate steel in the shape of the gasket and have them drill the holes to match the gasket so that you can remove the EGR and bolt on the block off plate instead. If you are skilled enough you can do this yourself.

Do not do this if you live in an emission controls area. But with that carb you are already in violation.

Good luck.

you can actually buy an egr delete plate and gasket from autozone.

For an Olds V8? I thought they were just for the Chevy?

i know they had one for my buick 350, not sure on an Olds.
