I have a 79 malibu wagonwith a csb and t350 transmission i'm leaking transmission fluid from between the engine and transmission so i think its the seal how do i go about removing the transmission so that i can take it to the shop to be checked out any help appreciated thanks
not a bad job but you will want help from a friend. get the car as high up as you can.
remove drive shaft
disconect speedo cable, shifter, and any electronics
remove dust shield
remove trans mount bolt from cross member
remove bell housing bolts
jack trans a bit and remove cross member
remove starter
spin flywheel with prybar or the like to get the three stall converter bolts
slowly and carefully slide trans back and down. may have to remove dip stick .

You might find a cheap new transmission jack for about 100$. Or a used one on craigslist, that way you can do it yourself. The crossmember will still need to be unbolted and it'd be smart to support the engine with a shop crane or equivalent
