Help with New Ford 9'' Rear end. Polly Rubber Bushings Ect

Hey, Guy

I need some help with picking the right set up.

I'm building a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix and wanted to make sure I was on the right path for the rear end

I got the Quick Performance 9'' set up for the rear. and needed some help for the control arms and bushings since I've read a lot of stuff about polly vs rubber bushing and being safe for the street.

This is be a street Driven car and my main goal is safety first

Question One
Will UMI Polyurethane Rear End Housing Replacement Bushings in the ears be bind free and safe for the street.

UMI upper and lowers come with Polly Bushings..If those are not bind free and safe for the street?

Question Three
Would these be my best bet with some MOOG Rubber bushing

Question Four
Would running the UMI 78-88 Regal G-Body 1" Tubular Rear Sway Bar Chassis Mounted 3" Rear End cause any damage to my control arms or any problems.

For my ford 9inch swap I ran rubber bushing on the rear side then umi rear tubular trailing arms with poly bushings everywhere else and the chassis mount rear sway bar with no binding problems and rear lowering springs. If you do use a poly bushing in the rear side you will have binding issues for a street car because the rear will be to stiff and not be able to rotate properly. But with the rubber you will have just plenty for rotate properly
 
I don't know why people keep buying these Quick Performance 9'' rears

Did they ever take the time to fix there leaking axle tubes?

I know a lot of people having issues with them and as far as I know QP hasn't done anything about it.

As PontiacGP said this is what you want if it is a street car

if you run a solid upper control arm with poly or rubber bushings that will cause a bind. The stock uppers were designed to twist so with a solid upper you need to use a joint on one end.
 
Thanks Guys for all the info, I'm going to go with roto/heim joint uppers and solid lowers. Also for the leaking axles I've read that they don't send you axles seals so You need to make sure you buy the seals yourself...so hopefully I don't run into any problems with the 9''.

That is what I have, if I'm not mistaken the Roto Joints have a 15° deflection so that is more than enough to compensate without binding. UMI is a member here and they are very helpful so for technical questions you could pm them...
