Just registered, and wanted to say hi, and tell you guys about my current project. She's a 1980 El Camino, pepper grey metallic with metallic black stripes. Same color as Elinore from gone in 60 seconds. Complete frame off restoration. Frame was sand blasted, and painted. All new urethane bushings, and body mounts. New Moog springs all the way around. Olds 350 diesel cutlass springs in front to handle the weight of the 396 that has yet to find it's way home between the fenders. The 396 is .030 over, with semi open ovals, and just over 11 to 1 compression. Thinking of converting to E85 so I don't have to run race gas. I've heard good things. I'm running a comp 292H cam, with an old school Edelbrock torker intake. You know, the one where the carb is mounted kinda c*ck-eyed. The carb is a Holley 4160 750CFM, but if I convert to E85, I'm thinking of converting to the 4150 style secondary metering block while I'm at it. Never built an E85 motor before, and want all the adjustability I can get to get it tuned right. Behind the 396 (402) is going to be a muncie M21 wide ratio I still have to rebuild with a Mr. Gasket vertical gate shifter. Kind of a weird shifter, but old school, and way cool if you ask me. Out back is a 12 bolt out of a 66 chevelle with a 3.73 gear, and an Auburn posi. As far as exhaust goes, I've got a set of Hooker SuperComps and that's it. I was thinking of a Pypes 3" system, but use Borla Pro XS mufflers instead of the Pypes mufflers. It'd be kinda pricey, but you gotta love the way Borlas sound. Just got a new computer, and haven’t transferred the old files over yet, so no pictures, but I'll get on it soon. I really like your guys forum. I've read stuff on here a bunch of times before finally joining, and always found the info to be very accurate, and the people seem to genuinely know their stuff. I look forward to hearing anyone, and everyone’s comments about my future setup, and would be more than happy to share any knowledge I've gained in what I've done to the car so far. Cheers everyone, and happy holidays.
