Ok, I have been driving around in the wifes minivan, and man that thing moves some air. So the question is, has anyone tried, and had luck with, retrofitting a newer blower motor into these old g-bodies? Frankly the stock ones, even new stock replacements (been there), blow. lol

I will have to hit the yard one of these days and try and get some. I don't care if it is a "direct" fit.

Is the rest of your system working right? Are your seals shot? My HVAC system works very well. On 90+ humid days I have to throttle the AC down because it's too cold. More fan (if its possible) may not be the answer.

Oh yeah. I have had alot of g-bodies/a- bodies. The airflow is less than in a newer car.

But to answer the question, the Buick I am on. Has all new duct seals from the a/c box to the dash vents. I redid EVERYTHING when I converter to the GP dash. I have a new motor, and some old ones. The airflow just doesn't compare to the 2001 Venture my wife drives.

I understand some velocity will be lost in the design of the system, since the g-bodies don't have the smoothest transitions from the duct pieces. But, a motor that delivers more RPM for a given voltage would help, and maybe a newer style birdcage also.

I tried a motor out of a newer model ( 98 Olds), and it fit fine. But the newer models turn in the opposite direction, so no flow. Couldn't switch the blower wheel either- different mounting style. I've heard that motors out of late 80's suburbans where stronger, but I haven't been able to find a part number that is any different than a standard G-body replacement.

I heard they spin a different way.

Never heard about the suburban though.
