Hi, I build my motor on a stand and it has amluminum heads and all that good stuff. I have never hoisted a motor like this up befor and I dont want to damage the threads. Usually I bolt a chain to the intake bolts and lift from there, can o do this the same way or is there a safer way. The trans will be attached as well.

why not use a lifting plate?

If I was lifting just the motor, maybe but im putting the motor and trans in in one shot and all that weight on 4 1/4 studs doesn't seem right.

you won't have a problem with that...If you use a carb plate, the four 5/16" bolts that you use will support about 3600 lbs each

I put one bolt at the front and back of the heads (Where the alternator and Power steering brackets go). Aluminum or not, no problem.

I usually use a leveling bar with a chain goin to 1 bolt hole in the back of 1 head and anther in the other head in the front. This time I wanted to drop the motor in with the accessories on so I used a lift plate. Works fine. No worries.

This is how I did it before the last go around. With the v belt setup I had more availability to the bolt holes in the heads. The serpentine setup utilizes these holes. Either will work just fine

To install with transmission attached you must use a leveling bar and lift the front of the car and remove the trans crossmember. The better the bar you buy the easier it is

I got this one from napa, cost me $55.00 plus tax. My heads are cast iron and not aluminum so weight isn`t an issue but with 4 bolts screwed in tight holding it in place I wouldn`t worry.
