So my lovley 700-R4 is acting increasingly weirder :?:

And the odd part is that it only does these things sometimes.

Right now, sometimes it won't sh*t untill a hair or two shy of 3 grand on the tac, and sometimes when i put it in gear from neutral or reverse, it churps the tires.

And then sometimes it really churps/ spins the tires on the 1st to 2nd shift

Also i noticed today, if it won't sh*t when its supposed to, i can let off the gas and it shifts?

It's full on fluid, and i re-set the TV cable again, not 100% sure if the TV cable is stretched or not.

The odd-part is that it doesn't do this all the time, could it be the govoner? I'm not sure what that part even does but my friend who builds transmissions now told me it could be the govoner sticking, any opinions?

How many miles since the last fluid/filter change?

Less than 400 miles. And from what i was told, the transmission has less than 2000 since it was rebuilt.

I've had it apart before, not apart but pan off and out of the car, it's got some type of after-market valve body, and everything on the inside looks brand new.

it sounds like the governor to me also. that's what controls the shift points, so...

Question, Would softly tapping on the govorners cover maybe free it up?

And i've heard rumors that you can spray some kind of libricant in/ on the govorner to free it up? Please give me some input on this, the sooner the better, i'd hate to burn this trans up :/ I hate being in money situations.

I don't think you'll burn it up from it shifting late, that would be if it was shifting early... it is hard on driveline parts though, been there, done that (numerous u-joints and a broken bellhousing) :x The governor slides into the side of the case, you can take the cover off and slip the governor right out.

Yeah, i thought i was hearing a TICK from the transmission, turns out it was just some type of very small ..crossmember that sits below the driveshaft? it vibrated loose and was smacking against the car 😛

the governor will come out and you can check the small springs and counter weights by turning it quickly in your hand, making sure they bith swing out and retract freeley, im pretty sure there are also different counter weights you can use to get it shift either sooner or later(rpm wise i mean).

I have heard the the springs are notorious for falling out after a burnout on either the 2004r or 700r4. Drop the pan and see if the governor springs are still intact. There is a repair for preventing it but i can't seem to remember it right about now .
