Has anyone ever had to replace the horn button socket underneath the hor button? Mine is cracked! This is where the wire from the horn button plugs into. What does it take to remove the socket? I do know that I'll need a wheel puller but don't know what else is involved. Where can I buy the part -- used junkyard only?

Thanks in advance for any info.

you will have to pull the wheel, socket is avail at napa

You'll need a wheel puller and the infamous lockplate remover/installer. Its rather simple just a pain in the *ss. I had to replace my cancelling cam awhile ago after it pretty much shattered inside my column :x

Sorry to here about your misfortune -- 25 year old plastic can get brittle.

Thanks for the tips with regards to the Lock-plate removal tool.

I don’t think that I’ve had the steering wheel off a g-body in the last 15 years! Anywho, I received my new puller kit at my door this week and was motivated so I started in on this repair. The horn has been broken a while and my inspection is coming up so that was also a motivating factor. I first removed the steering wheel then the lock plate to reveal the horn cam. I then proceeded to drive to Napa without thinking. When I arrived at the counter presented my parts guy with the horn cam, he said “wow I haven’t seen one of those in 20 years”. He then proceeded to tell me that I should check out a few of the bone yards in the state to see if they have any g-bodys. The only problem is that the cars at the bone yards in my area are all newer than the cars I’m currently driving! I wound up putting everything back together with the horn still broken! I then went inside and ordered the horn cam from gbodyparts dot com.I guess that this repair will need to wait another week! This type of stuff definitely build patients!

Btw, thanks for the tips!

You can get them at Auto zone in the help section under $10 bucks. It's called a Turn signal cancel cam. Dorman products makes them

I have just cut another notch in it the other way and left it in. You just have to turn the straw the other way to get it out.

Maybe I'm missing something just went I put the SS wheel in my Ls monte I just
1. Pulled the wheel
2. Put the new Wheel on.
3. Ran the wire to the plastic ring.
4. DONE!
Is that deal behind the wheel and I just did not pay attn?

I finally received the part last week and installed it on Friday! It's nice to have a horn again. I'm wondering if I should install one of those modern retro 12v arooga horns. Also wondering if it would pass inspection with the arooga horn?
