WHATS UP GBF IM NEW TO THE SITE...I JUST GOT AN 85 GP AND EVERYTHING IS STOCK...WHATS THE BEST WAY TO INSTALL 6X9s...PLZ HELP
 
You can get an adapter, should be available through any of a number of sources. Crutchfield, Online car stereo, sonic electronix, and maybe even ebay.

Do you have to screw these to the speakers themselves? Then use the original speaker plate to hold it all in place? Or I'm missing something?

The new speakers would mount to the adapters using nuts and bolts and then the assembly should mount like a factory setup. It's been years since I've installed a set, so I could be a little off in my instructions. One thing is for sure, it's not rocket science.
 
Does it take away from the sound?? Or would It be better to cut a hole and install that way for better sound quality???

It's fine, you are upgrading the speaker size. Plus, the space is very limited on that deck and you do not want to get too close to the glass and shatter it. If you are really concerned about quality (competition) you would probably not use an oval speaker anyways.
