How do I just a shifter cable on my 83 cutlass supreme.. I have a th200-4r transmission and I am not sure how to adjust it please help. oh and I have the factory floor shifter with console

First check the clips to see if they came lose and make sure the shift gate on the shifter isn't lose as well.

Have someone stand on the brake or use the parking brake and blocks etc... shift it into drive and then loosen the cable bracket on the trans pan and adjust accordingly for tightness.
Also look for play on the trans shift mechanism.

You might have to get a new cable if it has slop to it since these don't normally go out of wack.
Lightning rod cables will usually have the black sleeve come loose from the steel mount and pull out causing slack and ultimately trashing the shifter since the user thinks the shifter is causing the problems...
Stock cables can do the same as well but are not as likely.

should be able to get one at any auto parts store...may have it in stock, or take a day or two to get one in...

most advance auto parts still carry this as a normal stocking item. up here they do anyway. it's cheap too. maybe $20 or so.
