I was sold a 1986 Cutlass Salon but I'm beginning to believe it is not a Salon. I believe the last owner (not original owner) was basing it on the door emblems. However the upper doors are not the original because the wood grain doesn't match the rest of the car. All other identifying emblems were stripped from the car. How do I determine this cars true identity?

I do believe the interior is the only thing different
I've got an 84 calais, and to me it looks exactly like the supreem I use to have.
Interiors were different thats about it.

I have my 1985 Cutlass brochure from Oldsmobile, and it says the Salon package includes: Buckets and console, FE-2 suspension, gauge package, leather wrapped sport wheel, sport mirrors, rocker moldings ( like the Brougham), 14 in rally wheels, and that's about it. Also, in my experience, the Salon and 442 models have amber front turn signals in the bumpers while all others are clear. Plus, the grilles and headlight bezels have black accent paint on parts of them, while all others are fully chromed with no paint.

The Calais was replaced by the Salon in 1985, since Olds was using the Calais name on a Grand Am clone that year. So, they are the same basic car, just different years.

Only way to tell for sure is to check the vin.
