You can do much better. If you want to go the ribbon route, just go to your local NAPA and buy it same day. No need to have it shipped. If you wish to emulate the way GM did it, stay away from the butyl acetate ribbon and get some urethane adhesive in a caulk tube instead (your local body shop supply will have it). The urethane is superior to the ribbon because it bonds better, and makes the window an integral part of the car's structure. To use it, you will want to put some spacer blocks on the places the window rests before gluing it in so that it does not sag down. It will be a 2 man job to get it right, and if the previous repair was done with a ribbon, you will need to remove ALL of the old material. If not, you can just clean the window and clean the urethane where it is cut so that the new urethane has a place to adhere to. If there is any rust under there, take care of it now so that it does not come back to haunt you.

Also, the chrome has nothing to do with the window mounting. It is retained by clips on the sheet metal around the periphery of the window orifice. They are white, and generic in their application on several GM models. The bottom trim however uses a Cutlass specific clip you will have to find if you break any. They are gray in color.
