I have a 1980 El Camino and in the process of replacing the body mounts.

I have all six (6) mount bolts out and the lower bushings removed. I put a 2x4 under the drip rail and not contacting the frame, and tried jacking the body up. The frame goes up with the body.

I thought maybe the metal inserts that are left in the upper mounts are so tight that they're causing the frame to lift also. I tried pulling the inserts out, but they just won't come out with it jacked up or setting on the ground. Now I'm really stuck. Any ideas?

Have you unbolted all the mounts? Not just one side.
