how do i verify a GN?

going to look at a GN for a buddy of mine, what do i look for so i know its a true GN

The motor, lol. Also the rear end, i believe all GNs had the 8.5. Somebody correct me if im wrong. Also you can check the vin. Theres a site that has a vin decoder.

That only indicates that is in fact a turbo car. You have to look at the RPO sticker on trunk lid look for the we2 option that is the code for a Grand National. If its a we4 it a turbo t which is more rare then a gn. Then you got the wo2 which is just the run of the mill turbo buick. Look for grand national badge on dash and the gn has the black and grey two tone seats.

Also make sure the vin on dash matches the rpo stickers vin. People have been know to switch stickers to miss led people.

Not all GNs had the 8.5", earliest ones starting in 82 still had the 7.5 until the mid 80's

You are correct. But all GN and Turbo regals yrs 85-87 did.

Check on the SPID label on the trunk lid for LC2. That is the code for the turbo engine. Check for that and the WO2 or WE4. If it has G80 on the label in the trunk then it is a factory posi car.
