If he has no title and no paperwork then he doesn't own it. If he doesn't own it -- he shouldn't be selling it.

All that aside, Just apply some backwards math. What's a restored 442 worth? 10, maybe 12K? Could you restore that car for 8-10K? I don't know about you, but I don't think I could do it. So, to me, $2500 is definitely too much.
YMMV.

X2 no papers no sale, at least he should have applied for a lost title for that kind of money, to me thats a $800 parts shell

Yeah I think he should at least have a Bill Of Sale from the previous owner or tag receipt.

X3 - red flag on lack of papers.

I've seen so many ads talking about how there's no title, or all they need to give you is a bill of sale because it's an older car, or whatever. Or that getting the title will be so easy for you.

If it's so easy, perhaps the owner should do it and be able to get a little more money selling the car.

I never, ever understood the insistence on how "easy" it is for the buyer to get the title, etc., but the current owner won't do it.

how do you establish ownership if they arent titled there in pa that is a race car shell with no papers lol

Take a look ar Randy_W's non 442. He claims he has $780 in it. However, the car is worth what you are willing to pay. How badly you want it is going to determine how much value you put on it. I don't see too many cars up my way (Central NY) that are worth $2K without a motor or transmission, but then again it looks to be rust free which is a huge part of the value equation. Until they start making ALL the replacement sheet metal for these cars, finding one with no rust is the only option to an affordable rebuild. Interior doesn't sound like it's in that good of condition though. If you are going to strip the interior and make a drag car out of it, interior condition is a moot point.

I paid $1,000 for my Cutlass it had a 307 that didn't want to run & was dirty but the trans was good. This allowed me to save money bc all the accessories on the front of the engine (pulleys, belts etc etc) and fuel pump were ok so they all swapped over onto a new 307. This car has no engine or trans, or title. It can't be put back on the road so it can only be made into a drag car. Tell him you have $750 and if he doesn't take it you're headed straight to some other guys house to buy one with a title for $1,000 and when he says 'but this one is a 442' remind him he doesn't have a title & you could just make a clone out of a regular Cutlass and actually be able to drive it on the street legally... I would not pay more than $750 for a car with no title that is unheard of idc what the condition is. :wtf:

Yeah he should at least have a Bill of Sale with the previous owners info on it or a tag receipt by not we needing a title for 85 and older cars here in Georgia.
