I found a very clean 1986 442 with T-tops. It has just under 15,000 miles and everything works perfectly. I'll admit, it is very clean (could pass for new) but the guy wants almost $20,000!

I'd like like some opinions on what a vehicle like this is really worth. I'm thinking more like $12 to $14 thousand...

It simple it worth whatever someone is willing to pay. There is a sucker for everything. Me personaly that car is worth about 10k tops a few yrs ago on todays market 8k tops. I see 20k mile GN going for 10-12k and they are worth far more then a 442 ever will be.

Re: How much is too much? Your opinion please...

If you are asking then it's probably more than you think it's worth....if your looking for a one here's a 442 for 6,500...

You might buy it for 12 after he sits on it for a while. If we ever really get our economy cranking again this type stuff will go up but you don't turn around our economy in a short period of time. So he will probably have to sit on it along time to get a lot more than the 12 you would offer him. He could find the right person at the right time its just not likely.

Re: How much is too much? Your opinion please...

That is a beautiful and clean car for $6,500! I got 7,000 for my 442. It had a strong 509ci Caddy motor in it but was going to need floors and had a Maaco paint job that looked nice but was not near the quality of paint job as this car.

id buy it. these cars are getting rare, especially mint ones.

I don't see very many 442s listed that high...I think they are worth a lot more than they are selling for...Probably has to due with the economy mostly...I also notice that GN's, T-Types, & Hurst Olds all seem to sell for more than the 442s... the 442 Randy has for sale on this forum looks like a great deal...I also just passed up a clean 60k 1987 442 here locally that was beautiful for $6500....

This listing makes me want to cry...It is a 15k 442 for $10,500 in Arizona.....Only missing the t.tops...For a car that mint I could live without them...Check It Out...

There is your comparison...Of course I didn't have 12 grand to go get a car when I bought mine...Makes me think, I bought mine for $1000. In need of complete restoration but Rust Free...then I spent $700 to get it home....shoulda ponied up another 5 grand & id be driving it....

I see clean low mile Cutlass get $6000 plus here A 15000 mile cutlass salon sold for $10000 in 1 week .

I was offered almost what guy wants for the 442 above for My 86 442 . And a its a 15000 miles loaded 442 has the paint issues. Really Depends where its at .

Rust zone $$$. A solid 2 door Gbody average $6000 plus with any miles under 50000 and not hacked up . I have looked at several Cheap cars for $2000 tho solid would take $6000 plus to get clean ride . Paint engine redo ... And its not low mile original . There $8000 .

how do people sell these cars so cheap in the states? i see minty cuttys and regals on kijiji all the time for $800 or $1500 down there and the equivalent in canada would cost a guy 4-5000....i dont get it...

it's always cost more up here cause it costs more to live, fewer cars due to rust and less competition. The budget we have for our circle track superstock could almost run a LM in the US
