As the thread topic says. how much power have you put to your 7.5 rear? with or without posi?

140hp / 200tq
😛

On a serious note though, LS1GN has been running a posi 7.5 behind an LQ9 6.0 if I'm remembering my facts correctly. He has a girdle cover for it. And he's been drag racing that setup too.
I plan on running a similar setup with a 7.625 28 spline diff.
I won't be drag racing as much though and I'm only planning on switching to a Buick 350.

I have run a 1970 Pontiac GTO motor w/Crane 278 cam, Q-jet, true duals, 4 speed manual trans. The 7.5" rear was a 3:23 part time posi (gov-lock). I'm not sure of the power, but you can guess it was adequate to destroy the rear, but it didn't.

yea about where im at going to the track in october thinking may be a catastropic failure....going to run it easy but still have a decently built olds 350

yea im a little scared i know last 2 runs will be foot on the floor start to finish if it doesnt grenade its self just a little worried
🙂

Friend of mine ran a malibu, 12.40's in the 1/4 with a wheelie on a stock 7.5 posi. Before that it was in a monte carlo with mean 327 that picked one tire off a couple inches. I then got it from him and put it in my 84 cutlass with a 461 olds and 10.5in slicks. Lived the whole time I drove the car. Sold the whole car to a guy so dunno how long it lasted but between the 3 cars it served about 5 years of daily driver use and probably a total of a 100 passes at the track.

I have a 7.625 in a mild bolt on lt1 fbody and it whines and the posi seems to be wearing out with only 90k original miles. So I think it is kind of a crap shoot.

wow thats crazy makes me feel justg a little better not much though haha

They are tougher than many people give them credit for. If it has 200k miles and never had the oil changed or bearings replaced and sh*t is worn out then I would comfortably expect it to break. A trip to the track a couple times a year would not warrant a better rear end in my eyes. I am sure you will be just fine.

well im going to run it anyways was just curious of what everyone else has done to them hp wise im going to the track with it expecting it to grenade so probably wont happen...time will tell though

Having good gear ratios out back goes a LONG way to taking the strain off the gears. It's usually the guys trying to push 2:41's with a 455 that get into trouble fast.
