whats up guys, as you know i have a 78 regal, and have had some problems with it. like ive said before the whole reason i was working on the regal was so i could get a 240sx, so recently ive been searching craigslist atleast 5 times a day for a 240sx and i think i might have found the one. about a year ago he actually posted this car for sale but took it down (have no clue why) but anyways i want to know what you guys think. ALSO i know it looks like junk, but exterior dosn't matter to me yet because i plan on taking the car to a paint booth and getting it re painted. if i do get this, i should still have enough money to continue on the regal, and may keep it depending on if i get offers, so i want to know what you guys think about this. he lives around the neighborhood where i used to live. (sorry if you guys dont like me posting other stuff that isn't gbodies, but i feel like some of you guys care)
EDIT: i guess it would help if i actually posted the link

On a 240 look for hacked wiring. 240s are one of the biggest victims of hacked wiring all over the car. Also look the underside over really well for rust or previous damage

And BTW I love 240s. I've wanted to do a 3800 swap on one for awhile now 😀

If you get it I will require pics 😉
haha even if i sell the buick im coming back here, you guys are cool people. and yea if i get it i will keep you updated. also i am buying this car and going to sr20 swap, and eventually if i like the sport see if i can get sponsored (sport of drifting)

bad transmission and why is the gas fill in the trunk?

I really don't know a lot about 240s other than that I like the next generation better as far as looks.

What I do know is that 238000 miles on a car in the rust belt is quite likely going to need a LOT of undercar work. I would imagine (based on appearance of the car) that all the steering and suspension is going to need attention. The little stuff that has been let go , again to me, says upkeep was not really a priority.

You didn't ask for it, but here is my opinion....fix the regal, drive it while you search for a nicer 240 or rebuild the 240 in the ad. G bodies really do make good drivers, although stock most are far from a performance car.

the frame and the strut towers are the most important places for these cars, also this car has been in alot of other states, i think he moved to missouri not too long ago (he has his VIN on the post). and your opinion is appreciated, i am going to rebuild a 240, its just this one runs and drives for under 2000 which is insane for a 240.

I haven't kept up with imports since I first drove a 350 powered, '83 Monte Carlo about 15 years ago. I used to be into imports. I really wanted a Supra. Price per performance is one of the big reasons that imports stopped appealing to me. The prices of these old beat up imports is ridiculous. Under 2k is a good price for a 240 in that condition? Personally, I don't see it. Where's the value? A 238K mile car is gonna need a lot of work to make it look good and perform good.

It seems your heart is set on owning a 240 though and when you've got that kind of desire, nothing other than the car you want will do. If I were you, I'd see if I couldn't find one in better condition to start the project with.

As far as engine swaps are concerned, I know the SR20 is the engine that is really sought after for those cars but an LS swap would be a lot more fun and a lot easier to make power with.

The under chassis doesn't look too bad. Take a close look at the right front strut tower. Are you planning on replacing the entire drive train? I'd be concerned about the rear axle. Any plans for driving it on the street and would you be able to get affordable insurance?

How is the parts availability on 240sx driveline and steering/suspension components?
